They did that music dance before MJ passed away; its SF's Friday Night Skate, not specifically for MJ. Every Friday they do the same thing pretty much.

I don't think that it is a design flaw.
I worked with BB tools and I have the highest respect for the Blackberry engineers.

It seems to me that it is a design constraint dictated by a political decision from Blackberry.
Don't forget that there is a direct competition between BB and Nokia and recently Nokia announced their own competing email service while BB discontinued their support for Nokia business phones.

That's broken by design. It should be part of the standard platform, not

The idea of a common theme is good. I think, however, that for that to be a profitable day the attendands need to share in advance the micro topics they want to present. Maybe a wiki can help. This will avoid the risk of presentations covering the same micro topic and not addressing something important.

I loved the BCLJ2 (I wasn't on 1) and would love BCLJ3 but I agree with what you say. Make it topical but not to tight either or it will be just another wwwh Wednesday .

I like the idea of topical conferences. As much as I loved barcamp2 (didn't go to the first one) I somehow missed non tech topics and I'm hard core geek myself.
The problem is probably also that people aren't used to mix different things or topics, so the *conferences are usually topical.

Yeah, the Exploratorium is a lot of fun (specially if you go there with a bunch of geeks), but they should start renewing it soon or it will just fall apart :)

A similar (but in my view a bit better) experience can be had in London's science museum.

With all those apps on your phone, that use locational services (like where’s the closest cinema, shopping and what is the best public transport route from “here” to “there), you suddenly see the Future of Mobile. It’s very bright and I can’t wait for it to come to .si
